Karate

Ma-Seirei-Kai Karate. (Pure Spirit association)

With our skilled instructors, our karate is a proven method of self-protection, it is a great way to boost confidence and self-esteem. When you train in karate regularly it helps with concentration, discipline and fitness. We offer advice on nutrition that will help improve your muscle mass, fatigue and weigh loss in conjunction with training in karate. Not only will you tone up, but your strength and stamina will increase.

With the help of MSK karate, numerous of our students have gone on to do extremely well within their school, college and university grades. It also helps to have a distraction away from the stress of everyday life whether you are a student, full time parent or at work. Within karate our instructors we will help you understand and set and achieve goals, take control of your training and in turn become more confident in your abilities. This helps with your everyday lives through out work and home life.

Karate is more than just a fighting art – it can even become a way of life. Discipline, confidence, focus and fitness a just a few of the qualities you will get out of MSK karate.

We have three main components to our style

Kihon (basic) techniques.

As a beginner these are broken down at first so it becomes easy to learn and they are the foundation, which every is built from. Which are
– Punches
– Strikes
– Blocks
– Stances
– Kicks.

Kata (form) performed with-out with the applications (bunkai) of the kata

A kata is a sequence of moves that is designed within a patterned, each student will need to perform them for their grading’s and also show the applications (bunkai) of the kata which will show that they understand the kata.

Kumite (sparring)

Within MSK Karate we have different types of sparring

Competition or Point sparring:

This is where each will spar wearing protective equipment, and can score with a punch, kick or a throw/sweep and a follow up punch. Sometimes known as non- contact or touch contact.

Free sparring or continuous

Each will have protective equipment on, each student depending on grades can use a variety of techniques, including sweeps, takedowns and ground work. Controlled Contact to the body and touch contact to the head. Also known as Semi contact sparring.
